Cashiers interact with customers and handle financial transactions, while baggers load their purchases into bags for the customer to take home. Grocery stocks ensure that store aisles are stocked with fresh produce and produce. Butchers and bakers work in the delicatessen and bakery departments, respectively, if present as part of grocery operations. Managers oversee other employees and ensure that each store remains productive and profitable. The grocery industry currently employs more than 4.5 million workers.
